This paper describes recent developments in passenger simulation models and the application of the techniques to major infrastructure projects in the Australia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Simulation software has been applied to capacity analysis for stations for a number of years, but recent increased interest in the technique has led to an expansion in the number of railway operators and facility design teams applying such models. The project input and a summary of the nature of the recommendations brought about by applying the latest PEDROUTE and PAXPORT simulation models are described for the Central/Sydney Terminal (Australia) for the Olympics 2000, the West Rail Project in HOng Kong and the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) terminal station at St Pancras (UK)>
