Telsa Industries, in concert with Madis Engineering, has developed, tested, and commercialized a novel method of electrically heating oil wells called the Triflux System. The system utilized electrical induction principles to heat selected zones in oil wells to accomplish such tasks as: centre dot Stimulation of heavy oil production through heating the near well-bore regions of productive reservoirs to reduce viscosity and increase inflow. centre dot Elimination of mitigation of the effects of skin resistance which otherwise limits productivity. centre dot Improvement of pumping efficiency in heavy oil wells by reducing the viscosity of the fluid being pumped and by facilitating the disengagement of produced gas which would otherwise hurt pump efficiency. This paper will describe the mechanical and design considerations for the system and its underlying operating principles. The paper will also present field test data to demonstrate both: the system's effectiveness in solving these problems and the economics of doing so.
