The immobilizied cell culture using polyurethane foam (PUF) as a carrier of immobilized Bjerkandera adusta was investigated for the effective production of lignin-degrading enzymes such as lignin peroxidases, managanese peroxidases, and laccase. The effects of operational conditions such as temperature, pH, and glucose concentration on the production of the enzymes were evaluated experimentally. The optimal temperature, pH, and glucose concentration for the maximum production of lighin-degrading enzymes wre 30 deg C , 4.5, and 20 g/L, respectively. The immobilized cell culture could promote significantly greater lignin-degrading enzyme activity than the conventional stationary liquid culture.
