A wave-digital filter (WDF) structure is sufficiently modular and generalized and can therefore be used to facilitate the control of variable filter characteristics in conjunction with a coefficient update logic. The elliptic approximation is realized by a variable low-pass WDF, which is clearly a linear and time-variant discrete model. This paper describes the hardware interfaces that permit effective control of this class of variable digital filters.
