Development of customised zoned lining for 110t bof in durgapur steel plant (sail)

In Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), 110T capacity BOF are lined with resin bonded MgO-C bricks with average lining life of 700 heats with specific consumption of 4.5 Kg /tcs and specific cost of Rs. 170 /tcs. RDCIS in association with DSP have developed a customised zonal lining based on the study of wear profile of past campaigns, evaluation of MgO-C bricks and analysis of operational data. Lining was done with 5 different quality bricks, single brick of 800 mm length with inclined lining design. Lining life of 1083 heats achieved with reduction of specific cost by Rs. 31/tcs.
