A complex soil-structure interaction rpoblem is related to buried flexible pipes. Physical modelling, using geotechnical centrifuge, and numerical analysis are two economical and time saving methods for studying soil-pipe interaction. A finite element emthod has been used to study the soil-pipe interaction. Results were then compared with the findings obtained from a series of experiments done in a centrifuge. Two soil models: linear elastic and non-linear stress-dependent have been used for numerical analysis.
