Digital Image Analysis for Coastal Wetland Management for Aquaculture Development-A Case Study in Parts of Pulicat Lake, SOuth India, India

The coastal zone is a frontier area characterized by rich natural resources and intensive human activities, knowledge about the coastal extent and condition of wetland is an important aspect. Acquisition and analysis of data of these reosurces is a confronting task, hence Remote Sensing technology comes in handy for monitoring the coastal environment because of its repetitive and synoptic view. Auaculture is an emerging industry in India, especially in the coastal zones in S. Indial. The development of this industry satisfy many a fange of National priorities such as helth, food generation, unemployment and other socio-economic related factors, further this is beig encouraged by the Government because of its high rate of returns compared to other industries.
