This paper addresses a new time domain technique which characterizes the behavior of a microwave circuit from a model-based parameter estimation process in which the parameters are deterined from a set of frquency measurements. The estimation process is robust in the manner in which it can accommodate for noise that is present in the input frequency data. The new parametric technique is evaluated on a microstrip network and the simulated time domain results are validated against: 1) an inverse discrete Fourier transform and 2) a measured inverse Chirp Z-transform using a Hewlett packard 8510C network analyzer.
