Modular, reconfigurable business process simulation methodology

This paper describes the methodology to build a modular, reconfigurable business process simulation environment. A companion paper by the same authors, also presented at the 1997 Summer Simulation Conference, describes an objectoriented implementation of the methodology. This paper shows how the different components that make up the simulation of a business system (e.g., input scenarios, different configurations of the system (being simulated, a data repository to hold data about the system required for simulation, the actual simulation run, and analysis of the results) can be separated in a modular fashion to enhance simulation extensibility and flexibility and minimize the need for code changes between simulation runs.
