The 11 alpha-hydroxylation of steroid substrate (16,17 alpha-oxidio-4-pregnene-3,20-dione) by mold strain is the key step to get hormone products. In this paper, it is mainly composed of three parts. The first one, is the fundamentals concerning with the technological process as well as the important factors influencing the mold mycelia growth and steroid biotransformation. The second one is an extension of the previous one with the first time to introduce two external factors, the chemical and physical factors, into the steroid-transforming biological system to see their effects on the improvement of the process. The third one is the morphological investigation of molds together with computer aid to quantitatively describe the life of molds in different stages.
