This paper reflects an attempt to apply a novel method of fuzzy logic control to Automatic Train Operation (ATO) system through directly modelling the behavior of a skilled driver, which is based on the idea of Partition of Complex Process & Hierarchical Intelligent Control (PCP&HLC). A new method to determine the firing strength of fuzzy rule - weighted sum of membership of input variables — is also proposed. The simulation results have shown the effectiveness and feasibility of what proposed.
