Leaking tankers: how much oil was spilled?

Based on earlier work with draining tanks and with recent laboratory experiments, a simple model has been developed to estimate lkeak rates from tankers. The model includes algorithms for gavity outflow and air and water ingestion. The model is specifically designed for emergencies when more direct oil-loss estimation methods, such as tank soundings, are unavailable.
