A university was faced with the problem of assisting students in making decisions regarding graduate programs. The growth of the university, interest from students, and limited resources made advising a challenging task. An expert system was developed to provide advising access and consistency for students interested in the university's graduate program. The system weighs specific variables and organizes key information that are determinants into the decision-making process. The developed system freed up administrative time and added consistency to the advising previously done. Plans are to enhance the program and make it available in strategic campus locations for general student use.
