Field experience with a new on-line oil-in-water monitor

On-line measurement of the oil concentration in effluent water streams from oil productinoperations is highly desirable for improved contorl of both water quality and the production process.However,a severe difficulty in arriving at suitable on-line instrumentationis the high robustness which is needed for oil industry applications.In particular,the presenc eof suspended solids in the produced water should not influence the oil concentration measurement.Further,the use of solvents must be prevented.
