Destruction of Benzene in High-Temperature Flames: Chemistry of Benzene and Phenol

A flat, laminar, premixed H_2/O_2/Ar flame was seeded with C_6H_6 to study the destruction chemistry of single-ring aromatics. Molecular-beam mass spectrometry was used to measure mole fractions of 44 species at phi = 1.79, 2.93 kPa (22 torr), T_max = 1940 K and a cold-gas velocity of 101 cm/s. The results were used to investigate the C_6H_6 and C_6H_5OH reaction networks proposed in three current literature models.
