Cationic Corn Starch Prepared by Dry Process and Its Application in Wheat Straw Pulp

In this paper, the syntheses of cationic ethcrifying reagent and preparation of cationic corn starch by dry process are presented. Factors,such as reacting time, temperature and dosage of ctherifying reagent, affecting starch preparation , are discussed. The effect of wet-end additive of cationic starch on the dry strength and filler retention of wheat straw pulp have also been studied . The results show that breaking length, burst index, folding endurance and filler retention can be effectively improved by the cationic starch . With the additition of cationic starch, high quality papers can be produced with a furnish predominating in bleached wheat straw pulp,and more filler can be added.
