A near-infrared analyzer provides excellent wavelength repeatability and very high signal-to-noise ratio by utilizing acoustic-optic tunable filter (AOTF) spectrometry with digital wavelength control and high detectivity (D ), extended-range InGaAs TE-cooled detectors. D is a normalized measurement of minimum detectability that takes into account the area and electrical bandwidth dependence) (1). Like the entire spectrometer, the AOTF device has no moving parts. This makes the analyzer very fast (4000 discrete wavelengths per second), rugged and reliable. Therefore the analyzer is a very useful tool for quality and process control in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Furthermore, the analyzer enables the analysis of a thin film chemical composition. This is demonstrated by the determination of the content of drugs in transdermal patch films.
