PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To screen carboxylic acid so as to enable both of spectrometric sensitivity and separating ability to be realized by adding an appropriate additive agent to a mobile phase.;SOLUTION: A method is provided which comprises: the step (a) of measuring a signal intensity of electronic spray ion (ESI) and a retention time of a cationic spectrometric object material when adding some carboxylic acids to respective mobile phases; the step (b) of forming a first arithmetic expression employing the retention time as a target variable and a second arithmetic expression employing the ESI signal intensity as a target variable by using a multivariate analysis respectively, wherein physical-property values of the carboxylic acids are employed as explaining variables; the step (c) of obtaining a physical-property value of the carboxylic acids being an object to be screened; the step (d) of predicting the ESI signal intensity and the retention time of the carboxylic acid being the object to be screened by applying above both arithmetic expressions to the physical-property value obtained by the step (c); and the step (e) of comparing a predicted retention time with that obtained by adding acetic acid as the additive agent, and comparing a predicted ESI signal intensity with that obtained by adding trifluoroacetic acid as the additive agent, thereby evaluating the carboxylic acid being the object to be screened.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
