摘要

The objective of the present research is to develop a product model called an assembly model which is applicable to represent mechanical assemblies, aimed at integrating CAD, CAE and CAM systems. Contents of the assembly model are firstly analyzed from the view points of the assembly design and the process planning. A data structure of the assembly model is proposed based on the STEP framework, which is an international standard for the ex-change and the sharing of product model data among the CAD/CAE/CAM system. An assembly process planning system is developed to generate suitable and feasible assembly sequences from the assembly model data which describes the geometric and the connecting information about the mechanical assemblies.
