The method involves providing an assembly process plan (12) for the assembly, by which an assembly step (14,16,18) of the assembly is set. A digital simulation model (30) of a component (22) and a digital simulation model (32) of a working area (28) are provided, in which the assembly step is carried out. The simulation models are supplied to a digital mock-up-simulation unit (36) by an analysis unit (10) for generating digital simulation data of the assembly step.
