The effects of vinyl neoester and its chain length on the performance of emulsion polymers have been investigated. Emulsion polymers stabilized either by surfactant or by colloid systems have been synthesized from vinyl acetate, butyl acrylate, vinyl neodecanoate (EXXAR~(TM) Neo-10), and vinyl neododecanoate (EXXAR~(TM) Neo-12). Th percentage of vinyl neoester in the latexes was varied from 0 to 30 weight percent.
