This paper discusses the anaytical method to seek the minimum radius of curvature of profile for the cam with translating flat-face follower. Simple and highly accurate equations are provided in the paper for engineering design to calculate the minimum radius of curvature and the radius of the minimum prime circle for 11 commonly used motion laws.
