Various organizations have begun to develop satellite control centers using well-defined components configured for specific missions. Satellite commanding, however, is still considered too specific to use anything but new or re-engineered custom built software. The Reconfigurable Operations Control Center (ROCC) defines an architectural framework for general-purpose satellite control centers. The ROCC's Command Subsystem is designed to be generic. It is currently being configured for and integrated into two National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) satellite control centers.
