DAB FIELD TESTS AND PILOT PROJECTS CARRIED OUT BY DEUTSCHE TELEKOM AG

Prior to the introduction of an innovative technology there is the need to carry out tests under operational conditions. Field tests and pilot projects provide knowledge and experience, which form the basis for the establishment of a regular service. Deutsche Telekom AG is involved in a number of these activities aimed at preparing for the introduction of DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting). The paper first gives an overview of this process, followed by a detailed description of the field test of Berlin carried out by Deutsche Telekom AG. In the framework of the presentation of the L band pilot project conducted in Berlin-Brandenburg aspects of multiplexing and are dealt with.
