Effects of ozonation on the speciation of bromine and chlorine in the living seas

During ozonation of seawater in closed marine systems, reduced chemical species such as bromide and chloride ions can be oxidized to higher oxidation state products. Concentrations of several of these products were examined at The Living Seas, an artificial seawater aquarium. In this facility, where bromide ion was not originally added, trace amounts are present from impurities in NaCl.
