Biomedical Physics Education for the Healthcare Profession: Quality and Safety as the Starting Points

At the question about the physics contribution in education of the medical and healthcare professionals and the general public, we limit this question to the basic medical education and specialization training for qualified medical workers in our hospitals in the Netherlands, as a consequence of the organization and legislation of the education and training in our country. It is argued that the rationale of the physics contribution has to be based on quality assurance and safety of medical equipment, as device itself as well as part of chain of activities in the patient treatment process. Several conditions which might be helpful to achieve a general aim are mentioned. Physics in the basic medical education and specialization training is required for medical workers to use medical equipment in a correct and safe way during individual patient healthcare.
