3D-Visualization of CT Images under IDL Environment

Conventional CT technology has been widely used in modern medicine to detect cancer and provide help in clinic treatment. However, mass screening based on CT images often leads to large number of images which makes the diagnosis time-consuming and difficult to be used in clinic. To increase the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment, 3D visualization of the 2D CT images is helpful to provide the doctor with a realistic 3D environment in which he can concentrate on searching ROI and making decisions. In this paper we describe the process of 3D visualization of 2 dimensional CT images. A series of 2D CT images are stacked to form a 3D volume image, whose rendering is displayed under IDL environment. The relations and matching problem between the visualized 3D image and the original 2D images are analyzed.
