Water-based printing on extensible plastic films, once a challenge to most experienced ofprinters, has today been successfully accomplished in many applications. While desiredfunctions such as gloss, rub resistance, adhesion, consistency, etc. are still undergoingimprovements, proper application of the liquid to the substrate can be accomplished withrelative ease providing an understanding of the process is studied. This paper willexamine those machine requirements that are necessary to achieve high quality waterbased printing results on plastic films.
