Regarding traffic-induced vibration of girder bridges, authors have examined effectiveness of a hybrid control system combining merits of passive and active type. Recently, a performance of AC servomotor for an active control system has been improved. Then, in this study an active control system is newly developed. Model experiments on forced vibration of a girder to a moving vehicle are carried out under conditions of various moving speeds. Dynamic response is estimated in terms of r.m.s. The active control system is effective compared with the hybrid control system even though control force of active control is smaller than that of hybrid control.
