Improving Bandwidth of Communication Controllers

The integration of data compression hardware into communication controllers can be a significant factor in reducing the cost of data transmission, and therefore can have a positive impact on the performance of distributed information networks and document delivery systems. Due to the complexity of most compression methods, past implementations of data compression techniques have been mostly restricted to software. In this paper, we present hardware algorithms that aim at increasing data transfer rates and reducing the cost of data transmission. The high speed of these algorithms ensures that data transformation is done on the fly, as data is being transferred from/to communication controllers.
