NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN SAMPLING SULFUR RECOVERY TAIL GAS

The inherent problems in the analysis of Sulfur Recovery Tail Gas have in the past required somewhat elaborate and complicated sample handling systems. While all sample handling systems require some maintenance, these earlier units were quite touchy: correct temperature, pressure and flow all being critical.A new simplified lower cost sampling system has been designed for this application. The new system is so simple and compact that it can be located in the analyzer unit, eliminating the need for a separate heated box. By combining low flow design with a steam flush, exposure to sample is greatly reduced and much better service life is obtained. Field installations of these newer units have proven very successful, with accurate analysis and less maintenance.
