A bacterial strain (E.coli /pET-16b::PrecA::egfp B5 strain) was constructed by genetic engineering to respond to environmental genotoxic compounds. A capillary electrophoresis-laser induced fluorescence (CE-LIF) method has been developed to detect the fluorescent bacterium. The results demonstrated that the CE-LIF method shows an ultrasensitive detection of the fluorescent B5 strain exposed to genotoxins at low concentration.
