Deposition history and pool model of the Yakela convex block, Tarim basin

Previous study of North―Tarim basin suggested that the source rock are Triassic and Jurassic non-marine faces. The exploration based on this concept of source rock resulted in minimal response. A great progress has made when the marine faces source rock of Ordovician and Sinian are recognized. Core analysis, well testing and paleo-tempresure data analysis is carried out for the new borehole of S15. A depositional and burial history analysis was carried out thereafter. A new pool model was set up considering oil-gas origination, migration and accumulation within the Yakela convex block. The secondary oil generation was confirmed by this study within the Ordovician source rock. These types of pools were discovered in the Yakela oilfield. They are buried hill pools in Paleocene, lithologic trapped pool in Jurassic and anticline pool in Cretaceous and Paleocene.
