Portable Crack Width Calculation of Concrete Road Pavement Using Machine Vision

this paper is designed to calculate crack width on concrete road pavement. Manual crack detection and its width calculation is subjected to inspector’s skills and consumes time. Automating crack width calculation using image processing speeds up the process. The researchers collected crack images of pavement surface from the national road of CARCANMADCARLAN. The data collected underwent a process of extracting cracks. The image was analyzed using the image processing algorithm in order to calculate its width. Evaluation of developed device’s performance is tested against ground truth. The result shows that the developed device for crack width calculation is with accuracy of 96.93%.
