We propose a conformal finite difference time domain (CFDTD) technique and apply it to calculate the scattering parameters of a class of microstrip configurations useful in monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) applications. The printed circuit geometries analyzed in this paper are characterized by the possession of curved edges that are usually approximated via staircasing in the context of the conventional FDTD method. These structures include a radial stub, and an annular microstrip resonator. The CFDTD results are shown to be in good agreement with experimental data reported in the literature.
