Implementing digital audio devices for the IEEE 1394 high performance serial bus

This paper examines practical issues related to the imlementation of digital audio devices for the IEEE 1394 serial bus. It provides a brief turorial of teh IEEE 1394-1995 standard, the P1394a and P1394b supplemental standards, hardware devleopment guidelines, and on overview of protocols for transporting and controlling audio over the 1394 bus. Adetailed block diagram of a typical IEEE 1394 audio device is presented with stategies forimplementing its functional blocks.
