Energy Conservation: An Efficient Means to Lower the Production Cost of the Oil Gas Field Enterprises

Energy conservation in modern enterprises doesn't only mean how much energy is saved; the more important is to lower production costs by energy conservation activities. The development, production and processing of oil & gas are series of processes of producing energy along with consuming a large mount of energy. Energy intensity has direct effects on production costs and competitiveness of a firm. The total energy consumption in China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in 1998 was 45.22 Mtce, equivalent to 31.64 million ton crude oil. Therefore, it is significant to find out potential of energy saving and to implement relevant measures through studying and analyzing situation of energy consumption in oil & gas exploitation and production, so that implementing cost-reduction oriented operation strategy, creating sound performance of the firms and enhancing competitive power.
