In this paper we present results based on Monte Carlo simulations of the extinction rate of a dense medium comprised of dielectric, spherical scatterers. The extinction rate is calculated using an iterative solution to Maxwell's scattering equations. In the past, this formulation was used to compute extinction rates for randomly placed scatterers occupying up to 25% by volume. In the calculations for these results, only the field due to the electric dipole was considered. The results presented here extend the range of fractional volumes and include both the electric and the magnetic dipole.
