Uniform temperature method and heating stage microscopy were used to determine liquidus temperature (T_L) of E-glass and ECR-glass. The uniform temperature method is a method to heat treat glass sample at isothermal state, T_L is evaluated at temperature between lower temperature with crystal existed and higher temperature with no crystal. Heating stage microscopy was used to determine T_L comparison with the uniform temperature method in order to assure the accuracy of the first method. The crystals containing sample was heated from room temperature to high temperature, T_L is the temperature that the change amount of crystals can be observed. The effects of alkali oxides (Na_2O and K_2O) on T_L were also studied. Analysis of the liquidus samples was carried out using multiple analysis tools such as an optical microscope, XRD, and SEM/EDS. The liquidus temperatures measured by two methods were compared.
