The influence of information technologies in delivering successful mail organization for the twenty-first century

The globalisation of business has dramatically increased the volume of items carried by the international mail organisations. Components can be sourced from and end products delivered to virtually anywhere in world and the mail organisations have developed new services to meet the demand. Competition between the global courier companies and the international arms of traditional national carriers is intense and one of the key factors for success is information. This paper examines a number of the factors influencing the development of successful mail organisations for the 21st century with particular emphasis on technologies for information.
