Stand-alone photovoltaic systems have become widely used as a reliable andrnalternative energy source to meet the electrical energy requirement of rural settlements. Arnstand-alone photovoltaic system capable of generating electrical energy for application inrnrural electrification in a remote location in Akwanu-Baro, Nigeria, has been designed.rnThe electrical energy consumption was adjusted to meet the load requirement of thernsystem. A computer program coded in MATLAB was developed to demonstrate thernprinciples and techniques of the design parameters. The computer-aided design employedrnthe ampere-hour method of sizing a photovoltaic system. The use of computer-aidedrndesign has improved the speed and accuracy of the design.
