An Update to the Boat Launch, Recovery, Transfer and Storage Systems on the USCG National Security Cutter

USCG has been conducting IOT&E onboard USCGC STRATTON to evaluate the knuckle boom cranes (cranes) and dual point davit systems performance Stern Boat Launch. Recovery, Transfer and Stowage (LRTS) System: Recovery System 1. Net/capturing rope upgraded, other items under review Boat Transfer System: 2. CB-OTH-Ⅳ pendulation during transfer in heavy seas is an issue due to the long hoist 3. Crane boat transfer and stowage is a more labor intensive operation 4. Advantages of the cranes are: Shore to ship cargo transfer capability Compact arrangement out of flight path Reliable/Fully marinized/Low maintenance Improved accessibility for repairs/maintenance Side Davit Boat LRTS System 5. Tests indicate that the dual point davit is an improvement over the single point davit 6. System to be implemented on the other NSC's.
