Nd:YAG laser as scalpel and coagulator

Abstract: The properties of surgical Nd:YAG laser (1.06 $mu@m and 1.36 $mu@m wavelength) with endoscopic fiber have been investigated. The possibilities of using it as a scalpel and as a coagulator suitable for the endoscopic gynecological operations have been established. The tissues of myometrium, endometrium and ovary have been treated with different output profile quartz fibers. The most efficient wavelength of laser light and the profile of fiber for cutting and coagulation of different structure tissue have been found. !3
