Landslides at active construction sites in Hong Kong

摘要

Notable landslides have occurred at construction sites involving slope works in Hong Kong.Apart from posing a risk to the site workers and causing delays and cost overrun to projects,slope failures atconstruction sites can also threaten public safety as the failures can affect facilities beyond the site boundary. Therehave been cases resulting in casualties as well as near-misses. This paper presents some case studies of selectednotable landslides incidents and the key findings from the post-failure investigations. The review has identifiedsome areas that warrant attention in order to mitigate the risk of slope failure during execution of slope works.
