There are many documents to study the vibration of the beam, but most of them aim at thecantilever beam or simply supported beam. The free vibration of a uniform slender beamwhose one end is fixed and the other end is simply supported is studied in this paper. Thebeam carries a concentrated mass with rotary inertia to adjust the natural frequencies ofthe system. The frequency equation of the beam derived from theoretical approach and thenumerical method is used to calculate the natural frequencies and vibration modelfunctions. The effect of translational inertia and rotary inertia of concentrated mass onnatural frequencies is analyzed. The analysis results indicate the influence of thetranslational and rotary inertia of concentrated mass on the natural frequencies is inconnection with to the location of concentrated mass.
