摘要

The major failure mode of the ceramic inserts is DOC notch wear, when machining Nickel basedrnalloys. While up to now, there is no concrete and convincing explanation for DOC notch wear, among which He’srnexplanation[1] is more reasonable. In present work, an experiment was carried out to verify his explanation. Basedrnon theoretical analyses of experimental results, the reason for notch wear of ceramic tools is mainly that thernimpact effect of the burr and fin-shaped chip edge causes tools to be of fatigue damage.
