Newspaper fibers are derived from wood and have acceptable mechanical properties. In this study, shredded newspaper was mixed with a water-reducible acrylic resin to make fiberboard using a hot compression-molding machine. The acrylic resin to newspaper ratio was varied from 6 to 14 percent of the dried newspaper weight. The curing temperature was set at 160℃ and the curing pressure was 6 MPa. The curing time was 7 minutes. The density of fiberboard fabricated was between 0.72 and 1.15 g/cm~3. The tensile and flexural strengths and impact resistance of the fiberboard increased as the resin content increased.
