In the gasification of the model chars prepared from the model coals with different ranks, we have found that specific surface area of the chars depend strongly on the rank of the model coals, however, carbon structure of the chars has no clear relationship with the rank of the model coals, and the specific surface area of the chars is the controlling factor for the char gasification.
