Programming In Increments: A Case Study

Incremental development is the currently advocated approach to programming. However, what is often overlooked is that there is no real notion of incrementality in the programming languages or mainstream middleware architectures that we currently use. Instead, increments that are supported by current implementation techniques can imply random changes to the existing systems. As a starting point to a practical software engineering using property preserving increments, has introduced a way to transfer refinements developed in a formal setting to conventional programming as increments. In this paper, we introduce a case study on using the property-preserving increments in a simple yet non-trivial example.
