Many hours have been spent debating the issue of whether the marketplace drives technology or whether technology drives the marketplace. As a marketing person, I like to think that the marketplace drives technology and that the natural gas industry is certainly no different.rnThe purpose of this paper is to provide some examples of this belief. A belief that collectively, the natural gas industry is smart enough not to waste time or money on developing better mousetraps that can't be sold.rnThis paper will also describe some recent technological developments with respect to low-cost fuel conserving combustion controls and to further provide you with some insight, as to why we at Bailey Controls see these low-cost developments becoming applicable to a much wider range of industrial gas applications, in particular, the low-end natural gas fired combustion marketplace.rnBut first, we need to examine what factors have brought us to where we are today.
